FAQ
WHY SHOULD I WAX?
Waxing reduces hair growth when performed regularly (every 4 weeks).
While shaving crops the hair at the skin's surface, waxing pulls it out by the root, so it grows back softer, finer, and thinner.
Waxing is great for those who are tired of shaving several times per week. The more you wax, the less hair grows back!
WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR MY FIRST VISIT?
+ Refrain from shaving or trimming for at least 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment to ensure the correct length.
+ Take an anti-inflammatory (Ibuprofen) 30 minutes before your wax session to ensure your comfort.
+ Make sure the area(s) to be waxed are clean.
+ Inform me of any medications you are taking that could possibly make your skin more sensitive (see contraindications).
WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS TO WAXING?
Waxing is never performed on clients taking Accutane.
If you have taken Accutane it is advised not to wax for at least 6 months to a year after you have stopped taking this medication.
Facial waxing is not recommended for clients taking Retin A, Renova, Differin, etc.
You must stop using these medications for at least a week before AND after waxing to avoid skin lifting and irritation.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HARD AND SOFT WAX?
Hard wax is a gentle wax that only adheres to the hair, whereas soft wax adheres to both the skin and the hair.
I use hard wax for all areas of the body!
WHAT CAN I DO TO ENSURE THE BEST WAXING RESULTS?
Getting on a regular wax schedule (every 4 weeks) yields the best results.
If you are just starting out with waxing it may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and shaving interrupts the growth cycle. It is very important to avoid shaving and trimming between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate hair growth.
HOW LONG DOES THE HAIR HAVE TO BE?
The hair needs to be at least a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch long. Which is usually 1-2 weeks growth after shaving.
Also, no need to trim before your wax as I will take care of that for you if needed.
HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?
If you've been shaving, there may be a transition period.
It generally requires 2-3 consistent waxes at a 4 week interval to achieve optimal results.
Optimal results include 3 to 4 weeks of being hairless, hair coming in thinner, and reduction in hair growth.
If you have not shaved, these results may be attained more quickly.
WHAT CAN I DO TO MINIMIZE PAIN?
The first wax is usually the most uncomfortable but with regular waxing your hair grows back finer and thinner making each wax less painful. You may want to take a mild anti-inflammatory (Ibuprofen) 30 minutes prior to your wax appointment to ensure your peace of mind.
HOW DO I PREVENT AND TREAT INGROWN HAIRS?
EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!
I recommend that my clients start exfoliating with a sea salt scrub as soon as they notice any new hair growth following their wax.
Exfoliating is the key to preventing ingrown hairs and irritation, I suggest exfoliating in the shower 3-4 times a week.
HOW LONG WILL I STAY RED?
Redness and post wax irritation generally goes away the same evening or by the next day.
I use all natural products following your wax to help aid in the healing process.
WHEN CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES
(SEX, WORKING OUT, SWIMMING, TANNING, ETC)?
No tanning for AT LEAST 24-48 hours after your appointment.
Waxing has an exfoliating effect on the skin and can make you temporarily more susceptible to sunburn and sensitivity.
Other than that you can return to all your normal daily activities as soon as you feel up to it.
Make sure to shower right after working out to avoid ingrown hairs and break out.
CAN I WAX WHILE ON MY PERIOD?
As long as you're wearing a tampon you can still be waxed. Keep in mind that you may be a little more sensitive during this time.
CAN I WAX WHILE PREGNANT?
It's perfectly normal to wax while pregnant and is not harmful to you or your baby.
I am highly experienced with moms-to-be and will ensure your comfort during this special time.
WHAT ARE THE AGE RESTRICTIONS ON WAXING?
All clients must be at least 18 years old or have parental approval/signature to be waxed.
IS WAXING SANITARY?
I have a very strict “No Double Dipping Policy”. I NEVER reuse wax or wax sticks so you can feel safe and assured with your waxing service.
